Sioux City physician announced as new IPMA Board Member
Douglas W. Martin, MD, FAADEP, FACOEM, FAAFP, Medical Director of UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Occupational Medicine, joins the Interstate Postgraduate Medical Association (IPMA) as a board member.
The IPMA aims to advance lifelong learning to improve patients’ health and the value of healthcare. Martin looks forward to serving on the IPMA Board.
“My parents were high school educators, so a commitment to education is genetic with me,” said Martin. “I have spent my entire medical career volunteering to teach or planning continuing medical education (CME) events. I share IPMA’s vision for lifelong learning and hope to have a small part in shaping future goals of the organization for the next several decades.”
Martin has served as President and Board Chair of the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians (now known as the International Academy of Independent Medical Evaluators) as well as the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians. He is the Speaker-Elect and board member of the American College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine. He is an accomplished educator, with over 400 CME presentations, authored several articles and two books. He has been an American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates member since 2005.
