UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s will host the 40th Annual Perinatal Conference, “The Truth About 40,” on Wednesday, November 5, from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm at St. Luke’s Institute for Health Education Auditorium at the hospital in Sioux City. The conference offers continuing education credit for physicians, mid-levels, nurses and other health care professionals from across the region who provide prenatal and perinatal care to mothers and newborns.
This year’s conference will highlight antepartum testing, risk factors for traumatic birth-related injuries, common obstetrical emergencies, rising cesarean rates among other topics.
Renowned physician and attorney Jeffrey P. Phelan, MD, JD, Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist, Obstetrician and Gynecologist at San Gabriel Valley Perinatal Medical Group in West Covina, California will speak on the legal aspects of perinatal care.
Additional conference speakers include Alfred D. Fleming, MD, FACOG, of UnityPoint Clinic Maternal Fetal Medicine; Irene M. Zoppi, RN, MSN, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Clinical Education Specialist and Advocacy Outreach in the breast feeding division at Medela, Inc. in Hanover, Massachusetts; and Kathleen M. LaFavor, DO, Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Siouxland Women’s Health Care, P.C. in Sioux City, Iowa.
Continuing education credit will be awarded for nurses and CME and AAFP credit is approved for physicians. The cost of the conference is $89 and $99 after October 29, 2014. To register, click here.
