Ashlesha Kaushik, MD, FAAP with UnityPoint Clinic Pediatric Infectious Disease, has been selected as national faculty for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Project Firstline/American Academy of Pediatrics Infection Prevention and Control Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (AAP IPC ECHO) program for 2020-21.

The program, led by the CDC, is a national collaboration for education and training of pediatricians and pediatric providers across the United States, about infection prevention and control of COVID-19. Dr. Kaushik, who is also the Medical Director of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s, is among 10 providers from across the country and the only physician from Iowa to have been chosen to serve as faculty for the program.

“This is truly an honor to be selected as one of 10 providers in the United States. I’m grateful to the CDC and APP for allowing me the opportunity to network and collaborate with my peers regarding infection prevention and control of COVID-19,” Kaushik says.

Dr. Kaushik is the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Iowa Chapter Immunization representative and was recently the recipient of certification in the Pediatrics Leadership Program from Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA.
