Helping those whose lives have been changed by disabilities

What would you do if you lost the ability to walk? What would you do if you suddenly couldn't talk, or had difficulty hearing? How would you adjust to the many changes a disability could bring into your life? At Trinity, caring and compassionate staff members work with patients day by day to find the resources they need - resources that will allow them to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

At Trinity, we know providing care is more than tending to the body, you have our promise that we will serve you in whatever way we can to ensure your mental, emotional and spiritual well-being, in addition to improving your physical health.

There is no place like home, therefore you have our pledge that we will make you as comfortable and welcome as we can, while working to make your speedy recovery possible.

Because you are the reason we're here, you have our assurance that we will always be here for you.

A Team Approach

We are proud of the care we deliver here at Trinity. The entire team of nurses and therapists work together to provide coordinated care that is personalized to the care you need. Qualified professionals meet weekly as a team to discuss programs and goals. Members of this team include:

  • Physiatrists (physicians specializing in rehabilitation medicine)
  • Physical therapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Speech pathologists/audiologists
  • Social workers
  • Program managers
  • Case managers
  • Nutrition services
  • Pastoral care staff

History and Accreditation

Trinity Rehabilitation Services was created in 1970, the first program of its kind in the Quad Cities area. From 1978 to 2022 it maintained maximum accreditation in comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation by CARF, the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission. Continuing its long-standing history of leadership in rehabilitation services, Trinity opened the state-of-the-art free-standing Quad Cities Rehabilitation Institute as a joint venture with Encompass Health in August 2022.

Acute Inpatient Therapies

Trinity Rehabilitation therapies offer an array of services to help individuals who have experienced a loss of basic functional skills. Each patient is evaluated and treated by a team of rehabilitation specialists. Based on individual needs and personal goals for improvement, the team works together to help improve the patient's functional ability.

The majority of our patients have experienced one of the following:

  • Stroke
  • Brain injury
  • Amputation
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Orthopedic injury

Our specialists are also trained to treat neurological disorders, multiple traumas and other diseases and disorders that affect their ability to retain their independent functioning.

To make the inpatient stay as productive and effective as possible, rehabilitation and therapy is available seven days a week.

Daily communication with patients, families and caregivers is an important part of the process. We place a high emphasis on patient and family education. By listening to our patients' ideas and comments, we are able to evaluate our programs and services to continue to provide compassionate care and treatment.

Outpatient Rehabilitation Program

The UnityPoint Health – Trinity Physical Rehabilitation involves specific therapies for patients with functional impairments. Outpatients may include former inpatients requiring ongoing treatment upon discharge or individual patients. Any licensed physician may refer patients for outpatient services. Outpatients benefit from individualized evaluation and treatment programs.
