About Thea Kurtz, MS, OTR/L
Biography
I've spent my entire career as a pediatric occupational therapist, and I have a passion for feeding therapy and infant developmental care. I'm part of the NICU follow-up clinic team, I'm a certified lactation counselor, and I love caring for the infant/parent dyad. I divide my time between outpatient care and the NICU at Allen Hospital. My goal is support my patients and their families – and to help both to thrive.
Medical Specialties or Special Interests
I'm training in Craniosacral therapy and use it extensively in my practice with fussy infants, infant with oral motor restrictions and children with complex medical needs. I'm also trained in the SOS feeding therapy model, as well as several infant feeding assessments. I approach feeding from a holistic approach, looking at sensory concerns, oral motor skills and feeding behaviors.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I stay busy shuttling my kids to activities, hanging out with my husband and pets – and getting outside as much as possible.
Tell us about your family:
I'm married to my high school sweetheart, and we have three kids!
Topics you are passionate about?
I'd love an opportunity to engage more with the community to provide education regarding feeding difficulties, breast and bottle-feeding concerns, as well as the benefits of bodywork for infants and children.
