About Lyndsey Wheeler, PTA

Biography

Professional Statement:

I have always been interested in the body and all the variety of ways you can exercise. I fell in love with strength training at a young age which really helped drive my decision to become a PTA. I initially did not know what I wanted to do when entering college, but after a job shadow and an injury, physical therapy fell right into my lap. I am passionate about helping individuals with all diagnosis, but I have spent most of my career treating patients that have a neurological condition. I enjoy being there for my patients across the ever-changing cycle that is recovering from an injury and am proud that I get to help them meet their goals.

Why did you become a physical therapy assistant?

I became a physical therapy assistant because I have a passion for helping people not only improve their quality of living but help them rediscover their body and what it can do for them through exercise. There is no greater reward then being there for my patients throughout all the ups and downs until eventually they meet their goals and can cross the finish line.

What is the most important thing for people to know about you and your practice?

The most important thing I want people to know is that I have spent over half of my life in the gym, even a bit of time training at the collegiate level, so I feel comfortable working with a variety of diagnosis and meeting people where they are at given their current status. I am only a few years into my career but am confident in my ability to work with anyone. I value open, honest communication and practice in a way that creates a positive environment for everyone.
