About Kate L., MA, CCC-SLP
Biography
Professional Statement:
I became a speech-language pathologist because it allowed me to combine my interests in healthcare, science, and education to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives. My interest areas include early language intervention, speech sound disorders, stuttering, and social pragmatic language development. I believe in honoring and supporting all forms of communication, and a total communication approach is prioritized and honored across my sessions (verbal speech, augmentative and alternative communication, sign language, gesture use, etc.). I strive to provide patient centered care that is individualized to each child’s interests and sensory needs, with evidence-based practice at the forefront of my work. Collaboration with caregivers is a top priority to support generalization of skills across environments. Additionally, I believe establishing rapport and connection with a patient is fundamental to progressing in speech-language therapy; thus, early sessions will focus on building this therapeutic alliance.
