About Kalee Brannen, APNP

Biography

As a family nurse practitioner, I am dedicated to working with patients of all ages to provide compassionate, evidence-based care in a welcoming environment where patients can feel heard. I want to ensure that patients feel they are a part of their own care and empower them to reach their health goals.

Why did you become a provider?
I decided to become a nurse practitioner because I have a passion for caring for people, and I wanted to expand my scope of practice to have a more hands-on role in providing holistic, compassionate, and comprehensive lifespan care. My favorite part of being in healthcare is forming collaborative, trusting relationships with my patients and working together to reach health goals. I chose family medicine because I love caring for patients across the entire lifespan and supporting patients through all stages of life.

Medical Specialties or Special Interests:
I am particularly interested in preventative care and chronic disease management. I love to provide patients with thorough education so they feel informed and empowered to take part in their own care. Patients benefit greatly from understanding, even at a basic level, what is occurring in their bodies and this understanding can help to encourage patients to take a more active role in their wellness.

What would your patients say about you?:
I take my time to make patients feel heard. I am easy to open up to and happy to help guide patients through education and compassion to improve their health and reach their goals. I work to create an open, respectful, collaborative relationship with my patients, in a space that is welcoming and safe for everyone. I empower patients to take part in their own care, love to provide education to patients to help them make informed, evidence based decisions to optimize their health.

What's most important for patients to know about medical philosophy?:
I work to make the patient feel heard, and understood. I want patients to have information and education to help inform their care. I like to say that prevention is the best medicine, and education + information are the best tools we have for preventative care.

What do you like to do in your free time?:
I love to read, craft, travel, and spend time outdoors. I have 2 book clubs I am a part of, and love to play volleyball and tennis. I can often be found exploring Madison, or snuggling with my miniature wiener dog. I am a lifelong learner and love to pick up new skills. I am currently teaching myself how to play piano, and working on becoming fluent in Spanish.
