About Elyse McGraw, ARNP, FNP
Biography
Why did you become a physician/provider? I became a provider because I was ready for a new chapter in my nursing career. After 16 years, I transitioned away from bedside nursing to further my education and challenge myself. I wanted to to work where I could make more of a difference in preventing illness and hospitalization.
As a provider, what is your medical philosophy? I believe medicine should be tailored to help people achieve their individual health goals and improve their quality of life.
What type of care/clinical interests are you most passionate about? I am most passionate about patient education and advocating for the best interests of my patients.
Why did you choose your specialty? I chose nephrology because it is a complex specialty and there is a lot to learn. The kidneys are involved in so much regulation in the body, yet we have the ability to help people survive without them. It is a fascinating specialty!
What qualities best describe the care you provide your patients? I provide quality, evidence-based care with respect and compassion. I am engaged, trustworthy and non-judgmental in my appointments.
Being a healthcare provider, what drives/motivates you each day? Success stories have always motivated me! I love seeing people who put their faith in the process have big results that change their lives for the better. I go to work everyday in hopes I can help people live happier, fuller lives.
What is the most important thing patients should know about you and your practice? I am here for them, I want to help, and I am willing to do as much as I can to find something that works for each patient!
Personal Interests: I love spending time with my family, gardening, reading and traveling.
