Biography

Cassi Powell, ARNP, FNP-C, is a "float" provider who sees patients at multiple clinics.

Professional Statement:

My goal as a Family Nurse Practitioner is to provide the best patient-centered, holistic care I can to everyone. I have worked in Family Medicine for many years and understand that to treat an illness or disease, you must treat the individual. Everyone is unique, and so their care should be as well.

Why did you become a provider?

I became a provider because I have always loved the "why" questions and finding out how things work. The human body is truly amazing and fascinating. I wanted to use this curiosity and drive to do something productive and helpful for others. My grandmother was a nurse in the Air Force, so it gave me a direction to head. Then I just kept going. It has been a beautiful journey, and it is so rewarding to help those in my community.

Why did you decide to join UPH?

I have always had wonderful, caring healthcare providers at UnityPoint Health, and I wanted to join the team that supported those providers. I associate great patient care and warm, friendly environments with UnityPoint Health.

Describe your average patient:

I see patients of all ages, from all walks of life. Everyone deserves great healthcare and a caring, open environment to receive it. All are welcome.

What would your patients say about you?

Patients would say that I am a down to earth, compassionate care provider who is funny, knowledgeable, and welcoming.

What's the most important thing patients should know about you?

I will see anyone who needs care without judgment. The visit will be warm and welcoming, and you will receive great care.

What is the ideal provider/patient relationship?

The ideal provider/patient relationship is one built on open communication, trust, and understanding. Teamwork and collaboration are essential.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I like to watch anime, read, do crafts, work working, and exploring. I love animals and getting outside.

Tell us about your family:

I am married and have a daughter and two dogs at home. They keep me strong, grounded and laughing.
