About Amber Kramer, ARNP, AGACNP-BC
Biography
I'm committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for adult and geriatric populations. I have experience in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of acute and chronic health conditions – with a focus on promoting healthy aging, disease prevention and quality of life. Furthermore, I'm skilled in developing individualized, evidence-based care plans, managing complex medical needs and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Why did you become a provider?
I wanted to gain more autonomy in patient care and for the opportunity to develop deeper patient relationships.
Why did you decide to join UnityPoint Health?
It's because of the culture, support and meaning behind making a difference in patients' lives.
Describe your average patient.
I see patients (as an extension of their primary care office) in their home with the focus on treating at home to decrease unnecessary ER use and reduce hospital readmission rates.
What would your patients say about you?
I believe my patients would describe me as compassionate, attentive and approachable. They would say I take the time to listen to their concerns, explain medication information in a way they can understand and involve them in decisions about their care.
What's the ideal provider/patient relationship?
It's one built on trust, respect, open communication and collaboration.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Golf, puzzles, reading, spending time with my husband and our children, and watching kids' sporting events.
Notable ties to the region?
I grew up in Waterloo and have lived in the Waverly-Shell Rock area for the past 25 years.
