Jeff became interested in orthopedic surgery due to his desire to help people recover and from his many years as an ER Nurse. As an athlete, he likes to treat people with exercise and over-use injuries. Jeff's special interests include upper and lower extremity concerns, including shoulders, elbows, knees, and hips.
Jeff combines his education and experience as a paramedic, ER, critical care transport, ICU and orthopedic nurse to take care of patients throughout their journey to accomplish their health goals. Jeff brings a wealth of medical knowledge and preparation coming from 8 years on the Hospitalist service at UnityPoint Health – Meriter. He cares for his patients holistically and keeps their overall health in mind while treating their injuries as well as other acute or chronic medical problems. He also works with patients using a team mentality to determine the best treatment options for their specific needs.
During his free time, Jeff enjoys endurance sports, triathlons, and cross fit, and the outdoors as well as spending time with family.
About Orthopedic Nurse Practitioners
An Orthopedic Nurse Practitioners assist in the clinic and operating room with a licensed orthopedic surgeon. They are responsible for diagnosing injuries, ordering treatments and participating in surgeries. Orthopedic trauma patients often arrive through the hospitals’ emergency departments with broken bones from various types of accidents or sports injuries. An orthopedic trauma surgeon treats these bone, joint fractures and dislocations promptly.
