Course Information
- The Prepare to Care for Health Support Professionals course offered by UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s is a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary training program designed to prepare individuals for a wide range of roles in direct patient care settings. It is ideal for anyone interested in pursuing a career in health sciences. The Health Support Professional (HSP) certification is similar to a CNA certification; however, it is focused on acute care vs. long term care.
- Successful completion of the program is recognized by many local colleges as an alternative to the Certified Nurse Aide requirement for entry into nursing programs.
- This course has required pre-work. The course is offered in a hybrid format and includes approximately 40 hours of self-paced online education and quizzes that must be completed before the in-person portion of the course. Participants who do not complete the online modules will not be admitted to the in-person portion.
- The in-person portion consists of skills training, clinical hours, and the HSP certification exam.
- The cost of the course includes the hybrid course and the certification exam.
- After registering, and approximately one month prior to the class start date, you will receive an email with instructions for accessing and completing the online education. If you have not received information within two weeks of your class date, please contact Brittney Langston.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
- A minimum class size is required. The class may be canceled if minimum enrollment is not met two weeks prior to the course start date.
- UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital reserves the right to cancel the program due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather. In such cases, participants will be notified and the full registration fee will be refunded.
- Participants who cancel fewer than 14 days prior to the class start date, or who fail to attend, may not be eligible for a refund or credit toward a future training date.
