John Stoddard Cancer Center - Art Therapy
Radical Visual Journaling
Monday, February 5, 12, 19 & 26
John Stoddard Cancer Center Suite 450 Board Room
Art Therapy sessions are sponsored by Stoddard Cancer Center as part of the Charlie Cutler Healing and Wellness Program. This series is intended for cancer patients and survivors.
Using words, lines, markings, and images on a page we build a journal to discover your insights and experiences of cancer. Imagine your journal as a container of your thoughts, memories, and reminders. This journal is not to show your great artistry, but instead a gathering of thoughts, ideas and processes that is you. At times it may be messy, calculated, and incomplete but it is how we experience moments of our life.
All supplies will be furnished, with an invitation to bring your own if you feel the need. The attendees will combine paint, pencil, ink, thread and other mixed media to build the journal. No art experience is necessary.
Sam Erwin, MS, MA, ATR is an art therapist and spiritual director. She is invited to classrooms, conferences, retreats and small groups as a speaker and facilitator. She presently is contracted with Broadlawns, Iowa Lutheran Hospital and Stoddard Cancer Center for inpatient, outpatient and substance abuse art therapy.
Max 15 participants, so please register early.
