The Trauma-Informed Parenting Workshop is a transformative program designed to empower parents and caregivers with a profound understanding of how trauma can significantly influence a child's worldview, attachment to others, and subsequent behavioral manifestations. This workshop is a resource for those seeking to build strong, healthy relationships with children who have experienced trauma, promoting healing and resilience for both parent and child.

This workshop is intended for any parent, caregiver or human services professionals who interact with children with adverse childhood experiences.

Attendance

  •  This workshop is in-person, there is no virtual option
  •  Full day attendance is required
  •  Certification of attendance will be provided

Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1.  Understand the profound impact of trauma on both children and caregivers, exploring how it influences brain function and behaviors.
  2.  Explore neuroscience-backed strategies aimed at navigating the complexities of parenting children with puzzling behaviors.
  3.  Emphasize the crucial role of relational connection in the healing process, providing participants with practical interventions to enhance understanding and resilience in parent-child relationships.

Continuing Education

  • This program is approved for 6.0 hours of in-person foster parent training.
  • This program meets the requirement of the Iowa Board of Social Work for 6.0 hours of continuing education.
    • It is the licensee’s responsibility to determine if the continuing education program meets the requirement of their professional licensing board.
