UnityPoint Health – Trinity Bettendorf Celebrates 20 Years of Service to Quad Cities Community

Mar 25, 2024

When UnityPoint Health® – Trinity built a hospital in Bettendorf 20 years ago, we planned to grow with the community, filling your medical needs as they evolved. Today, UnityPoint Health – Trinity offers a wide variety of specialties and clinics to meet your needs.

The hospital opened on Feb. 18, 2004, as Bettendorf’s first and only full-service hospital. Since 2004, the hospital has seen a 144% increase in its number of patient days, while doubling hospital admissions.

Surgical visits have more than tripled. There were about 2,000 surgical visits in 2004 and more than 6,000 by the end of 2023.

To help celebrate the hospital’s 20-year anniversary, Bettendorf Mayor Bob Gallagher has proclaimed Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, as "Trinity Bettendorf Day."

“It’s been 20 incredible years. I’m so proud of our team’s passion and am immensely honored to work among individuals eager to serve their community,” says UnityPoint Health – Quad Cities President Shawn Morrow.

The 139-bed Trinity Bettendorf hospital specializes in orthopedics and robotic surgery, emergency services, obstetric and gynecological services including a Trinity BirthPlace location with a level II neonatal intensive care unit, cardiac catheterization and peripheral vascular services, medical and surgical intensive care, pain, wound and diagnostic services.

Trinity Bettendorf continues to provide Bettendorf’s only emergency department located within a full-service hospital, meaning you have immediate on-site access to lifesaving equipment and technology, such as heart catheterization labs and operating rooms. Visits to the emergency department have nearly doubled from 2004 to 2024 as more and more residents of Bettendorf and the surrounding communities have chosen Trinity in times of crisis.

“Trinity Bettendorf has truly become a valuable resource for many patients’ most hard-hitting illnesses,” Morrow says. “Throughout all these years if there’s anything patients and their families have learned it’s that we take their care and journey to wellness seriously because the minute they step in through our doors, they’re our top priority.”

Trinity-employed providers also work at Terrace Park Professional Center, a 60,000 square-foot outpatient medical office building adjacent to the hospital.
