UnityPoint Health Names Carolyn Barko Waterloo Market President

UnityPoint Health is excited to announce Carolyn Barko has been named Waterloo Market President, effective Sept. 6, 2026.

 

Barko has served in the role on an interim basis and brings strong operational experience, a collaborative approach and a demonstrated commitment to process improvement, execution and system alignment.

“Carolyn is a strong operator who knows how to bring teams together, translate priorities into action and support the resources needed to strengthen local operations,” said Jenni Friedly, Chief Operating Officer, UnityPoint Health. “Her experience and commitment to the Waterloo and Marshalltown markets will help us continue building strong relationships, supporting our teams and advancing high-quality care for the communities we serve.”

In this role, Barko will continue working with local leaders, providers and community partners to strengthen operations, support team members and build relationships across the Waterloo and Marshalltown markets.
