UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital is the No. 1 Hospital in Iowa, again, according to the Newsweek/Statista “America’s Best in State Hospital’s” list for 2026. This is the eighth time St. Luke’s has been named to Newsweek’s Best Hospital’s list since it started in 2019 and the second time, consecutively to the state’s the top spot.

“I am extremely proud of this honor,” said Casey Greene, UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital President. “This national recognition is a direct reflection on our dedicated team for their commitment to providing safe, quality care to our community.”

According to Newsweek the rankings were determined using quality metrics from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the American Hospital Association (AHA) Annual Survey of Hospitals Database, the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient experience surveys and a voluntary PROMs (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) implementation survey.

This year’s list highlights 800 leading hospitals. The awards list was announced in November and can be viewed on Newsweek’s website.
