Therapy and Rehabilitation

We have been providing quality outpatient therapy services to the Madison community for over 40 years. Currently there are five locations with specialty-trained therapists providing skilled evaluation and treatment interventions for both orthopedic and neurological conditions. Use the menu on the left to explore what services Unity Point Health - Meriter Therapy provides!

Physical therapy without a referral (Direct Access) may be approved by your insurance for certain diagnoses. Otherwise, a referral from your provider is necessary to obtain physical, occupational and speech therapy services. If you are looking for a specific approach or treatment plan, please ask the scheduling staff to schedule you with a therapist that meets your described needs.

For cardiac and pulmonary patients, our outpatient rehabilitation programs aid in speeding recovery, rebuilding strength and self-confidence, and reducing risk of future heart events through EKG-monitored exercises and classes. Rehab programs are offered at our state-of-the-art Wellness Center located just off the Beltline. Our team includes exercise physiologists, nurses, respiratory therapists and dietitians.

What to expect at your appointment

Evaluations are generally 60 minutes in length with subsequent visits being 30-60 minutes depending on your therapy type and diagnosis.  Please plan to arrive for your evaluation 15 minutes early to allow time to check in and fill out intake forms. Please dress in comfortable activewear whenever possible.
