Cardiac Rehab

The cardiac rehab program at UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown is an AACVPR certified program and proud to have achieved perfect patient satisfaction scores. We help people recover from a heart event or procedure, including:

  • Angioplasty or stent placement
  • Stable angina
  • Coronary bypass surgery
  • Diagnosis of coronary artery disease
  • Heart attack (within last 12 months)
  • Heart transplant
  • Valve repair or replacement
  • Stable/chronic heart failure with EF ≤35%
  • Peripheral arterial disease

We use a multi-disciplinary approach, as referring providers work with our team – a physician director, nurses, dietitians and pharmacists – to provide the best care possible. In 2022, our program increased quality of life by 20%, decreased depression by 48% and increased functional capacity by 55%.

Pulmonary Rehab

The pulmonary rehab program at UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown is proud to be ranked in the top 10% nationally for patient satisfaction scores. We’re here to help people suffering from chronic lung diseases including (but not limited to):

  • Asthma
  • COPD
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Fibrosis
  • Interstitial Lung Disease
  • Long COVID
  • Lung cancer
  • Preceding or following lung surgery
  • Pulmonary Hypertension
  • Various diseases causing lung restriction (Multiple Sclerosis, obesity, spinal deformity, Parkinson’s and more)

Each participant receives a customized plan of care, including exercise counseling/training, education on the disease, medications, symptom management and more. We use a multi-disciplinary approach to provide the best care possible. In a typical year, our program increases functional capacity (by 44%), while decreasing depression (by 14%) and shortness of breath (by 29%).
