St. Luke's Chemical Dependency Services

Comprehensive Evaluation

A professional chemical dependency counselor will complete a comprehensive evaluation to determine the extent of any substance abuse problem. The results will be discussed and treatment recommendations and referrals (if necessary) will be made. Patients may call to schedule a substance abuse evaluation.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment

St. Luke's intensive outpatient treatment is structured to use the 12-step philosophy of Alcoholics Anonymous. The program is designed for individuals who have a moderate or severe substance use disorder. The program helps individuals explore their association with substances and recognize the affect it has on their lives.

Treatment is provided by doctors, substance abuse counselors, family therapists, social workers, recreational therapists, nutritionists and spiritual care professionals. The group process focuses on communication and listening skills. Morning and evening programming times are available. The treatment schedule is three days per week for nine to ten weeks.

Intensive outpatient therapy includes:

  • Group therapy
  • Individual counseling
  • Family awareness groups
  • Spirituality groups
  • Recreational therapy
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Introduction to 12-Step support groups
  • Aftercare planning
  • Extended outpatient treatment
Relapse Prevention

This program is designed to help individuals who have completed treatment but are having a difficult time staying away from substances.

Information and Referral
Brief sessions are available at no cost for those looking for information or referrals regarding chemical dependency. An explanation of our services or a referral to another program may be discussed with a counselor during these sessions.
Intervention Training
There are times when a carefully planned intervention is the very best way to approach a chemically-dependent loved one. To be successful, such a process needs careful planning and preparation. We offer intervention assistance for concerned family members.
Detoxification and Stabilization
When medically-managed detoxification is indicated, a client may be admitted to the hospital. Following stabilization the client may be referred for outpatient treatment services.
Aftercare Program
Since treatment is just the beginning of recovery, St. Luke's Chemical Dependency program supports the continuing progress of our clients with our Aftercare Program. Aftercare groups meet once a week and are facilitated by our alumni. It's recommended patients attend for six months following graduation from our Intensive Outpatient Treatment.
Individual Counseling
When appropriate, individual counseling is available. This may occur prior to, during or after substance abuse treatment.
Extended Outpatient Treatment
This five-week program consists of 15 hours of education and group therapy designed to promote early intervention. This program is appropriate when there is a mild substance use disorder.
Youth Extended Outpatient Treatment
This six week program includes six hours of education and group therapy. It is designed to introduce minors about the impact of substance use and dependency.
Speaking Engagements
Our professional staff members are available to speak about chemical dependency and treatment options. Contact our office at (319) 363-4429 to arrange for this service.
