When to Use Urgent Care

It is best to contact your Primary Care Provider for your health care needs. But because we know health matters don't always occur at the most convenient times, our Urgent Care/Walk-in Clinics are available after hours, weekends and holidays.

Our walk-in clinics help fill a vital gap when you become sick or injured, but your primary care provider is not available and you can’t wait for an appointment. If you would normally feel comfortable having your primary care doctor take care of your injury or illness, but they aren't available - opt with urgent care for the flu-like symptoms, sprains or stitches.

UnityPoint Clinic has seven convenient locations throughout the metropolitan area that accept walk-in patients for non-emergency situations every day of the week. Insurance co-payments are usually lower for Urgent Care visits than for ER visits, so using a walk-in clinic can save you money in addition to being more convenient.

Urgent Care Clinics can provide medical treatment for minor illness and injuries such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Allergies
  • Bug bites, minor human or animal bite
  • Burns
  • Colds
  • Coughs
  • Cuts
  • Earaches
  • Fevers
  • Flu
  • Fractures
  • Infections
  • Non-life threating allergic reactions
  • Sinus Infections
  • Sore throats
  • Sprains
  • Upper respiratory problems
  • Urinary Tract Infections
  • Yeast Infections
Urgent Care Clinics do not have ready access to extended patient observation and specialty consultation. Patients who present with life-threatening situations are immediately transferred to an emergency department or referred to the 911 EMS system.
