GRMC Launches Annual Fund Drive
To meet the changing health care needs in the community, UnityPoint Health® – Grinnell Regional Medical Center kicked off its 2018 Annual Fund Drive in late June. Funds this year will go toward medical and wellness equipment and programs to meet the needs of residents and fund local health care projects.
“We are able to provide advanced health care services locally because of the philanthropic support from the people in the communities we serve,” says Jeanette Budding, GRMC’s director of communications and development. “This year the annual fund drive is focusing on raising enough to provide key pieces of equipment that meet the needs of our patients: an ultrasound machine, an EKG machine and transport carts.”
GRMC’s annual fund drive is a vital piece of the medical center’s history. Gifts to the annual fund drive have allowed GRMC to make investments in new, cutting-edge medical equipment and underwrite trainings for clinical staff.
The success of the 2017 Annual Fund Drive allowed the medical center to continue to update medical equipment with the purchase of four new vital signs monitors for the medical/surgical unit. This portable equipment has replaced older models. The monitors for the inpatient rooms provide continual observation of a patient’s pulse rate, ECG rhythm, blood pressure, respiratory rate and body temperature.
“Philanthropy is crucial for the work we do at GRMC,” says Doris Rindels, GRMC’s interim CEO. “It enables our health care team to provide the very best care for our patients.”
Donors can designate a gift to a specific service, department, program or the purchase of a specific piece of equipment at GRMC. Ten percent of all unrestricted gifts to the medical center is committed to the GRMC endowment, which is managed by the GRMC Foundation Board. Donations to GRMC can also be given as “unrestricted,” meaning the organization can determine the greatest need at a given time.
Several other projects also receive support from donations to the annual fund. Projects include distributing bike helmets to third graders in the GRMC service area annually. Contributions also support Grinnell Regional Hospice, Grinnell Regional Home Care and Grinnell Regional Public Health. Donations also offset the costs of programs like the Babies Room, the Loan Closet and the Senior Education Program.
Donations may be sent to GRMC Annual Fund, 210 4th Ave., Grinnell, IA 50112; or made online. For additional information about supporting GRMC, contact Heidi Ramaeker Pearson at (641) 236-2961.
