UnityPoint Health - Berryhill Center Receives Grant to Help Area Schools
UnityPoint Health – Berryhill Center is pleased to announce that Hamilton, Humboldt, and Wright County Decategorization Board (HHW DECAT) awarded Berryhill Center with a grant totaling $29,185.00 to provide mental health services in schools in these counties.
“UnityPoint Health – Berryhill Center believes that each school district has unique needs in order to provide effective educational services to their students,” states Aaron McHone, Executive Director of Berryhill Center. “Some schools benefit from onsite counseling services for students while others benefit most from having their own teachers trained as to how to recognize and refer a student who needs mental health assistance.” It is the desire of the mental health providers at the Berryhill Center to create an individualized plan with each participating school to ensure that the local district remains in charge of how to best serve their students. The Berryhill Center will be an available resource for any school in the area that desires a partnership and will offer customizable services to each district.
McHone further shares, “UnityPoint Health – Berryhill Center would like to publicly thank HHW DECAT for their generosity in funding this initiative. We believe that providing early behavioral health interventions in children will change the trajectory of many and will have a generational impact on our community.”
Services are anticipated to begin in January and there is also a plan in place to continue serving students through the summer and into future school years.
