Coronary heart disease is the buildup of plaque inside the coronary arteries. Those arteries supply your heart with oxygen rich blood. So as you can guess, when plaque builds-up in arteries, severe consequences occur.

Coronary heart disease essentially weakens the heart, which in-turn leads to heart failure or a heart attack.

5 Steps to Help Prevent Coronary Heart Disease
  • Exercise On A Regular Basis - A steady exercise program will do wonders to lower your chance of heart disease. Do this at least 3-5 times a week, with a solid 30 minutes of exercising.
  • Eat a Healthy Heart Diet - To have a strong heart, you have to eat right. Stay away from sweets, and trans fats. Cook with extra virgin olive oil to help lower your cholesterol, and fish oil will do wonders.
  • Live a Healthy Lifestyle - Don't drink alcohol, smoke, and stay away from second-hand smoke. Keep your weight in check as well.
  • Check Your Blood Pressure - Stay on top of your blood pressure every six months. Know what is normal for you. If you find that your blood pressure is frequently fluctuating, this would be a sign to talk with your doctor.
  • Talk With Your Doctor! - Ask your doctor about other things you can do. Talking to your doctor is a great first step in lowering your chance of future heart disease.
