Trinity Pain Management Center Addresses Concern Over Tainted Steriod Injections
UnityPoint Health - Trinity's Pain Management Center would like to address concerns regarding the recent outbreak of Fungal Meningitis stemming from steroid injections used to treat back pain, assuring the center's patients that Trinity does NOT use that particular medication or supplier.
"We want to assure our patients they are safe," states Dr. Sami Iqbal, physician at the Trinity Pain Management Center. "The product we use is different from the product in the news."
The company in question is the New England Compounding Center (NECC), a specialty compounding center that provides products to physicians, hospitals, and clinics throughout the country. They have recently recalled some of their products due to contamination concerns. UnityPoint Health - Trinity does not purchase products from this company, nor does Trinity provide the medications in question in the same form as those recalled.
