Volunteer Spotlight: Lynn Kerker
Why do you choose to volunteer at UnityPoint Health - Finley Hospital?
I chose to volunteer at Finley because I worked at the hospital as a record librarian for about 10 years before I retired. I knew what a friendly wonderful place Finley was. When I worked here it was just like a big family.
What do you find most rewarding about your volunteer assignment?
It is rewarding to know that the hospital is still a family friendly place and that everyone is still so nice. There have been a lot of changes, the hospital is a lot bigger than it used to be, but the people have not changed. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. I always leave with a good feeling after volunteering.
Who or what motivates you to volunteer?
At my age, I need to keep moving and have things to do to stay involved. Lynn is our oldest volunteer at Finley Hospital!
What do you do outside of volunteering at Finley (career, hobbies, interests, etc?)
I am a member of two different bridge groups and play bridge often. I help a lot at my church, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. I also enjoy spending time with my family. I have three daughters, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Lynn has volunteers over 1560 hours as a member of the Auxiliary and delivering newspapers at Finley Hospital. Thank you for your dedication to Finley, Lynn!
