Technology is constantly changing the ways in which health care is practiced and delivered, as well as how patients choose to obtain care for themselves and their families.

In an effort to expand our care options, UnityPoint Clinic is proud to announce a new partnership with MDLIVE, the nation's largest network of board-certified telehealth doctors. We will be amongst the first in our markets to offer the convenience of virtual care starting on June 1, 2015.

Virtual care appointments are not meant to replace a patient's primary care provider. Instead, it is offered as an option for families and individuals in need of quick care during the middle of the night, when on vacation, or in the middle of a busy work day. When care is needed for common health conditions, patients will be treated in real time, by phone or secure online video, by a team of  UnityPoint Clinic advanced practitioners based out of Ankeny, IA, as well as the MDLIVE physician network. When necessary, a patient's virtual care provider will forward needed prescriptions to the patient's local pharmacy.

Common health conditions effectively treated through virtual care include, but are not limited to: allergies, asthma, bronchitis, cold & flu, cough, ear ache, insect bites, respiratory infections, and sore throat. Pediatric care (age 3+) will also be available through virtual care including treatment of nausea, earache, constipation, cold & flu, pink eye and more. Virtual care appointments will be available for patients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, at an affordable cost of $49 (possibly less depending on insurance coverage).

Offering virtual care as an option for our patients and families is another step in our commitment to consistently surround our communities with the best coordinated care possible. We understand that families and members of our community lead busy lives, but what we can't accept is the idea of families not receiving health care simply because it doesn't fit into their busy everyday lives. Virtual care offers our community a way to obtain health care in convenient and accessible ways.

To have immediate access to a doctor, you must register yourself and everyone in the family who may use virtual care. Register and activate your free account to get started with virtual care:
