by -

UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital Wound and Hyperbaric Center has been notified that the center has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Wound Care Management Certification.

The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization's commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.

"Receiving the Gold Seal of Approval for Wound Care Management is a great honor for Finley," said David Brandon, President and CEO of Finley Hospital. "This showcases our commitment to the highest quality of patient care and this distinction will help us continue to heal as many people as possible by the best means available."

Established in 2002 and awarded for a two-year period, The Joint Commission's Disease-Specific Care Certification evaluates clinical programs across the continuum of care and addresses three core areas:

  • Compliance with consensus-based national standards;
  • Effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care; and
  • An organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.

The Gold Seal of Approval was awarded for all wound care centers managed by Healogics. Healogics and its affiliated companies manage nearly 600 wound care centers in the nation, including Finley. They are the nation's largest provider of advanced wound care services. Leveraging its scale and experience, Healogics utilizes an evidence-based systematic approach to chronic wound healing in treating an under-served and growing patient population.
