Why do you choose to volunteer at UnityPoint Health - Finley Hospital?

We volunteer at Finley Hospital because when we retired, we wanted to continue to be active and get out of the house.

What is your most memorable volunteer experience at Finley?

Richard: My most memorable experience was when I delivered flowers to the OB unit and there were two women there with the same name. We had to work to figure out where the flowers were supposed to go.

Sandy: Observing all the changes that have taken place in the hospital has been memorable for me.

What do you find most rewarding about your volunteer assignment?

Being able to help others and be people’s first impression when they come to Finley is very rewarding. We like to brighten other’s day and be a smiling face.

Who or what motivates you to volunteer?

Getting out around other people and the satisfaction of helping others motivates us to volunteer. It is also something we do to spend time together.

What do you do outside of volunteering at Finley (career, hobbies, interests, etc?)

Richard: I enjoy woodworking outside my time at Finley.
Sandy: I also volunteer at the Mines of Spain and serve on the board at Camp Ewalu. We also enjoy geocaching together.
