Volunteer Spotlight: Dan Baker
Why do you choose to volunteer at UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital?
It is the right things to do. People should take step back and choose to volunteer more. Finley is a community in itself and has a lot of friendly people. You have to work in the hospital to appreciate what goes on here and how organized, factual, and friendly everyone is at Finley Hospital.
What is your most memorable volunteer experience at Finley?
Getting to be Santa Claus for the kids this year at the Finley Santa event!
What do you find most rewarding about your volunteer assignment?
The simple fact that I am with people who need help and I am able to help them, at least most of the time, is very rewarding.
Who or what motivates you to volunteer?
It is just one of those things. After retirement you need something to do. You should never become a couch potato!
What do you do outside of volunteering at Finley (career, hobbies, interests, etc?)
I like to travel and spend time with my kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
