Volunteer Spotlight: Sharon Kaiser by UnityPoint Health - Dubuque - November 1, 2019 Why do you choose to volunteer at UnityPoint Health - Finley Hospital? I have been very blessed all my life and am thankful for that. Unity Point Health - Finley Hospital provides me the opportunity to give back to our community. What is your most memorable volunteer experience at Finley? In the ARU, patients are there sometimes for weeks so I have a chance to get to know them personally. It’s the little ordinary day-to-day experiences with patients I cherish the most. I always leave my shift feeling uplifted because of them. What do you find most rewarding about your volunteering assignment? I get to meet awesome people every day and hopefully make new friendships. The Employees here are skilled in caring for our patients. My job as a volunteer is to enhance that experience and help the patient feel special. Who or what motivates you to volunteer? The staff in ARU. They provide a supportive and healing community within the hospital. The nurses, techs and therapists are some of the most caring people I’ve met. I love observing them interact with the patients and that inspires me to serve others. What do you do outside of volunteering at Finley? I love spending time with my husband, our children and our three dogs. My favorite activities include interior decorating, going for walks, working outside in my yard or garden. Recently, my husband and I have started traveling in our RV and look forward to more trips.
