EMPOWER Boutique and Salon opens at John Stoddard Cancer Center
John Stoddard Cancer Center is excited to open a new boutique and salon to cancer patients in central Iowa. Located in the heart of John Stoddard Cancer Center, this boutique and salon will be available to patients through their cancer journey.
Cancer patients often experience changes in their appearance due to treatments or surgery. This can be difficult, both physically and emotionally. EMPOWER will help address the challenge by offering products and services that meet the unique needs of cancer patients.
“We are so excited to offer the services of EMPOWER to our cancer patients,” says Rachel Fyfe, AYA Program Coordinator, John Stoddard Cancer Center. “This meets an important need for our patients. We want them to feel supported by our team, both in and out of their appointments.”
Boutique products available to purchase include: head scarves, turbans and hats. Comfort items are also available and include aroma therapy, books and skin care products.
Salon services at no cost, made possible by generous donors and our partner, Dream Catchers Foundation include: head shaving, haircut, beard trimming and shaving, shampoo, blow out and skin care/make up.
“This is a phenomenal addition to the services provided at Stoddard,” says Sarah Zeidler, Executive Director at John Stoddard. “We are so thankful to the team at Dream Catchers for their partnership and we are so excited to help us show our patients that cancer doesn’t own their image.”
