UnityPoint Clinic - Central Iowa Announces New Scheduling Process for UnityPoint Clinic Urgent and Express Locations

null

UnityPoint Clinic Urgent and Express Care Locations will follow new scheduling processes starting Monday, December 5. Due to an increased surge of patients within our UnityPoint Clinic Urgent Care and Express locations, we are asking all patients to reserve a time online instead of just walking in for care. This can help reduce the time a patient spends in our waiting rooms and will help guarantee they are able to see a provider. The current surge is due to a combination of respiratory infections (flu, RSV, COVID-19) among the general public. *The Behavioral Health Urgent Care is not affected by the updated process. Please walk-in as usual for Behavioral Health Urgent Care.

“Our goal is to deliver high-quality care to as many patients as safely as possible,” says Josh Rehmann, DO, vice president and medical director for UnityPoint Clinic in Central Iowa. “We believe that having patients reserve a time online, we can better serve our community as efficiently as possible.”

Know where to go for care: For non-urgent health concerns,
1. Call your primary care provider first. Many UnityPoint Clinic providers offer same-day appointments or may have availability for next day appointments.
2. If you choose Urgent Care or Express be sure to reserve a time slot online at https://www.unitypoint.org/desmoines/get-care-now.aspx or through your MyUnityPoint account.
3. Consider Virtual Urgent Care and SmartExam options through MyUnityPoint. These virtual care services are available 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. every day, for patients 18 years of age and older.

When to seek emergency care: For serious or life-threatening health issues, call 911 or go to the emergency room immediately. This can include chest pain or heart attack symptoms, sudden or severe head pain, loss of consciousness, poisoning, uncontrolled fever or other potentially life-threatening conditions.

Please follow prevention strategies: The best way to prevent sickness is to wash your hands, stay home and wear your mask when not feeling well and get your flu and COVID-19 shots.

Be Kind. Kindness goes a long way – please be kind to all our staff. Our healthcare workers are faced with staffing and illnesses, just like you. We’re doing our best, so you can feel your best.
