Vicki Jensen, FNP-C, cares for patients at UnityPoint Health–Finley Hospital’s Wound and Hyperbaric Center. Trained in the latest wound management techniques, she offers specialized services that focus on difficult to treat wounds and pressure ulcers. She also provides wound care to patients recovering in the hospital as well as providing on site wound care services at skilled and long term nursing facilities in our area. Her ultimate goal is to improve clinical outcomes, shorten healing time and help her patients get back to enjoying what they like to do best; when wounds heal, quality of life improves.
She believes in working closely with patients and families in a team centered approach. An essential part of the healing process, especially for those with chronic wounds, is treating the whole patient. This entails working in partnership with primary care providers and specialists to improve control of certain disease processes that cause chronic wounds such as diabetes, high blood pressure and peripheral vascular disease. She also values the role of other ancillary services such as home health, diabetic educators, dietitians and orthotic services in order to offer up the best treatment plan to heal those difficult wounds. She encourages her patients to ask questions and voice any potential concerns.
In her free time, Vicki enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors doing activities such as camping, biking, hiking and kayaking. She also likes to golf and read during her free time. Vicki is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor’s of Nursing from Clarke University and her Master’s in Nursing from Allen College. She specializes in wound care, as well as family medicine and emergency medicine.
