How is an ultrasound of my baby at MFM different?
An ultrasound done by a Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) clinic is different.
A scan done in the hospital or at your obstetrician's office may be a very good one. Even so, MFM sonographers are specially trained to understand maternal and fetal physiology, and to be able to distinguish between normal and abnormal. We see a lot of both. Typically we perform an ultrasound at your first visit with us.
The ultrasound equipment used by MFM is state of the art, the software is the most sophisticated available, and our image sharing capabilities make creating your baby's first scrapbook easy. We utilize a program called Tricify to send images directly to your smart phone. Ultrasound in pregnancy is very safe when done correctly, as it is with us.
Our mission is to use ultrasound to demonstrate the healthy of your baby. If we discover there is a problem, our job is to help you and your provider determine a plan of care.
Of course patients also just want to know their baby is healthy. They likewise want to see their child while inside the mother, take photos, learn the gender of their baby, and prepare for their reveal!
These are some examples of what we'll be seeing together:
