Funding for FREE mental wellness visits is now available to anyone experiencing anxiety, insomnia, stress or relationship problems or who are simply not feeling themselves due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
UnityPoint Health-AbbeHealth Services is partnering with Hillcrest Family Services in Dubuque to offer the FREE sessions, due to expanded funding from the CARES Act and Mental Health/Disability Services of the East Central Region of Iowa.
Previously reserved for teachers and school employees, the grant is now open to all residents of Benton, Buchanan, Bremer, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Jones, Johnson and Linn counties, regardless of income level.
The grant covers up to five individual sessions, which can be held in-person or via telehealth. Individuals may also choose to join virtual support groups to talk with peers and provide mutual support.
“We are all feeling the increased stress brought on by this unwelcomed global pandemic,” said Kathy Johnson, executive director of Abbe Center for Community Mental Health. “Increased anxiety, uncertainties, stress and simply not feeling like yourself can have a negative impact on each of our lives. It’s important to talk through these stresses, and we are here to help.”
Grant funds are available through June 2021. To take advantage of the FREE mental wellness visits, contact Abbe Center for Community Mental Health at (319) 398-3562 or Hillcrest Family Services at 563-207-5494.
