Pediatric Rheumatology Services Now Available at Blank Children's Hospital

Blank Children’s Hospital is excited to announce the opening of Blank Children’s Rheumatology with provider Meghan Ryan, DO, on the Blank Children’s Hospital campus. This is the only pediatric rheumatology services offered in central Iowa.
Blank Children’s Rheumatology will specialize in evaluating, diagnosing and treating rheumatologic diseases that include autoimmune and autoinflammatory conditions. Rheumatologic conditions can affect multiple parts of the body and different organ systems which often include children’s connective tissues, joints and muscles.
“We are very pleased to now be able to provide pediatric rheumatology services here at the Blank Children’s Hospital,” says Steve Stephenson, MD, president and chief operating officer for Blank Children’s Hospital. “Establishing this new specialty service enables us to meet the needs of children and families here in Central Iowa and across our state.”
Dr. Meghan Ryan completed her medical education at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine with a Doctor of Osteopathy. Dr. Ryan’s specialty is Pediatric Rheumatology with expertise and interests in Juvenile Arthritis, Juvenile Dermatomyositis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Vasculitis, Inflammatory Eye Disease, Other Pediatric Systemic Autoimmune Diseases, Fever Syndromes (Autoimmune Condition) and Osteopathic Manual Therapies.
Blank Children’s Rheumatology will be located on the Blank Children’s Hospital campus in the Anna Blank building, floor 2. Patients will need a referral from their Primary Care Provider for an appointment.
