Frequently Asked Questions

How do I schedule the Wellmobile?

Scheduling a Wellmobile stop is easy and can be done by clicking here. Please make sure to include as much information as possible in the screening request form for staff to review. There is no cost to have the Wellmobile visit your location. The screenings are held inside your facility. Our Wellmobile van is used to transport supplies but the actual screenings are held inside your location. If you have additional scheduling questions, please contact the Wellmobile team at pia_wellmobile@unitypoint.org.

Do I need to fast? For how long?

The cholesterol and blood glucose screenings require an 8-12 hour fast prior to the screening. Please refrain from eating anything before your screening. However, you may drink water.

Should I take my medications?

Please take all medications, as prescribed, with water only prior to attending a screening.

How long will it take to get my results?

Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, spirometry, and pulse oximetry results are available within about 5-10 minutes of performing the screenings. Wait times may vary from location to location.

How much do the screenings cost?

All our screenings are FREE! Our free screenings include blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, spirometry, and pulse oximetry.

Are appointments required?

We do not accept appointments for our screenings. The screenings are performed on a first-come, first-served basis.

How often should I have my cholesterol checked?

An annual cholesterol screening is recommended for those who have normal cholesterol with a total cholesterol under 200. For those with high cholesterol, those with changes in medication and/or those who begin lifestyle changes (diet/exercise), it is recommended to have your cholesterol rechecked every 3-6 months.

Do you offer blood glucose testing separately from cholesterol testing?

No. At this time, blood glucose and cholesterol are included in the same test. Both require an 8–12 hour fast.

What results will I receive?

Results from a cholesterol screening include blood glucose, blood pressure, fasting cholesterol, and spirometry. Fasting cholesterol results include total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), triglyceride, and the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL cholesterol.

Who staffs the UnityPoint Health Wellmobile?

UnityPoint Health employees perform all testing. UnityPoint Health employees complete annual training.

Will you send a copy of the results to my doctor?

If your doctor works for UnityPoint Health AND if you sign the release on your screening participation form, we will be able to enter your results into our electronic medical records and alert your physician.
