Mary Sparks Thompson is the President of UnityPoint Health –UnityPlace, leading a diverse team of experts in psychiatry, mental health, and addiction medicine. With more than 25years of leadership and executive experience, Mary has served in operational and quality and safety roles in both hospital and community-based organizations. Mary received her Bachelor of Arts from Luther College, majoring in nursing, before earning her Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa. Mary is committed to expanding and innovating behavioral health services to provide the best possible care to the Central Illinois community.
Ann is the Chief Financial Officer of UnityPoint Health - UnityPlace. Ann has worked for non-profit organizations for over 16 years, including 10 years in community mental health and substance use disorder treatment. She is a graduate of Northern Illinois University College of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management. Ann is dedicated to service excellence to meet the wellness needs of the community.
Dean is the Interim Chief Operating Officer of UnityPoint Health - UnityPlace. Prior to his current role, Dean was the director of inpatient behavioral health for 18 years. He has also held positions as manager of UnityPoint Health -Methodist's outpatient and emergency behavioral health services, coordinator of business development, and community education coordinator. Before turning his interests to leadership, he worked as a family therapist on the adolescent inpatient behavioral health unit at Methodist, after working as a community-based outpatient therapist. He obtained his master's degree in clinical psychology from Bradley University and is a licensed clinical professional counselor. Dean is dedicated to building teams that provide the highest quality of care to help others achieve wellness.
Amanda is the Director of Addiction and Substance Use Services for UnityPoint Health - UnityPlace. During her tenure with the organization, she has been part of the clinician team and the leadership team. She has been in the addiction field for 17 years. Amanda is a graduate of the University of Saint Francis with a Master's of Business Administration and Master's of Science in Management. Amanda is committed to help individuals with the disease of addiction find recovery.
Carrie is the Director of Behavioral Health Nursing and Interim Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health Services for UnityPoint Health – UnityPlace. She earned a Bachelor of Psychology from Eastern Illinois University in 2002, is a graduate of Methodist College of Nursing in 2004 and is currently in the Benedictine MSN/MBA dual track program. Carrie began her career at UnityPoint Health in 2008 in behavioral health as a bedside nurse. She stepped into a unit manager role in 2017 before becoming the Director of Nursing and Interim Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health Services in 2021. Carrie has been a member and chair of several unit and house councils over her career at UnityPoint Health - Methodist and in 2016 was recipient of UnityPoint Health - Methodist-Proctor Nurse of the Year Award. Carrie is a strong advocate, helping to bridge gaps in care for individuals with behavioral health concerns.
Tricia is the Director of Behavioral Health Outpatient for UnityPoint Health –UnityPlace. She earned her Master of Arts in Human Development Counseling from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 2007 and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Tricia has been dedicated to the field of behavioral health for the past 15 years and has served in both clinician and leadership roles. Tricia is dedicated to assisting individuals in achieving overall wellness through quality behavioral healthcare.
