Residency/Site Special Features
Allen PGY-1
ASHP accredited. Extensive experiential and didactic teaching opportunities in a hospital-based residency program. Required rotations include: orientation, critical care, transitions of care, internal medicine, infectious diseases (including antimicrobial stewardship) and cardiology with longitudinal experiences of: service commitment, practice management/administration, anticoagulation clinic, pain management and project management. Elective opportunities may include: rural care, emergency medicine, palliative care/hospice, surgery, geriatrics and mental health. Other elective opportunities may be developed based on resident's interests. The residents will precept Doctor of Pharmacy students. This will include day-to-day instruction in patient care rounds, participation in journal club, pharmacy rounds, and other activities. The residents may also have an opportunity to participate in didactic teaching at University of Iowa College of Pharmacy (UICOP) and Allen College of Nursing as well as obtain a teaching certificate from UICOP.

Special Requirements for Acceptance
Pharm.D. from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy; licensed in Iowa by the start of residency. Unable to sponsor pharmacy resident visas.
