Outpatient Pulmonary Rehab
The pulmonary rehabilitation program at Allen Hospital is an individually tailored, multidisciplinary program which is formulated to help you breathe and function at the highest level possible. The three primary objectives of pulmonary rehabilitation are:
- To control, reduce, and alleviate the symptoms and complications of chronic pulmonary disease.
- To train the individual how to reach the highest possible level of independent function within the limitations of pulmonary disease.
- To train the individual to self-manage activities of daily living consistent with the disease process.
Allen's pulmonary rehab program is medical therapy that may include exercise training, nutritional counseling, education on how to manage your illness, energy-conserving techniques and group support. Pulmonary rehab requires a commitment from the patient as well as our team of health care providers that may involve doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, occupational therapists and social workers.
