"We have trained for this and we're prepared to fight this battle," said Victoria Hardy, Respiratory Therapist. "I've found that a big part of my job is to keep people calm."
We are responding to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Now so can you. Trinity Health Foundation committed $50,000 to establish a Healthcare Crisis Fund for the health and well-being of our front-line staff and our community.
Your compassionate donation today will ensure two things – doctors, nurses and countless other healthcare workers have the resources they need to remain at the forefront of COVID-19, and our community has necessary medical supplies, in this unprecedented time of need.
The Crisis Fund is being used to purchase critical personal protective equipment (PPE) for our front-line healthcare staff, including disposable scrubs for non-clinical employees now supporting our clinical departments and material (such as shower curtains) being converted into temporary protective gear until PPE supplies become readily available. Another way foundation funds are being used during this time is to support our younger mental health patients and their families, through the mailing of treatment materials, homework, and inspiring notes to maintain connection and support.
"The response of physicians and staff has been amazing. It reminds me that taking care of patients and the community is why all of these wonderful individuals are in health care,” said Deepak Ahuja, MD, Regional Medical Director, UnityPoint Health Clinics, donor to the Healthcare Crisis Fund.
Trinity is not only prepared but making every effort to ensure our community’s health and safety. We’re in discussion with other regional healthcare providers to make sure all in our community have access to the supplies and resources needed to treat those who come through their doors. Working together, we will be stronger and better prepared to battle this pandemic.
Many people in our community depend on Trinity for care. While our staff faces COVID-19, the circle of life goes on. We continue to birth babies, fix broken bones, and treat cancer. Your support allows us to continue to serve patients and families who depend on us every day.
“At this time of uncertainty, we need to come together and be a stronger community. I urge everyone to give what they can to keep our medical community solid and strong,” said Gwen Tombergs, Trinity Health Foundation donor.
Now more than ever, a strong and thriving healthcare system is vital. Working together, we are all stronger.
