Lung Cancer Screening Program
UnityPoint Health - Trinity is proud to offer lung-cancer screenings with low-dose CT scans of the chest. This effective program has been in place since 2013 and allows Trinity's team of experts to catch potential diseases and issues at the earliest stages.
Multidisciplinary Approach
Part of what sets UnityPoint Health - Trinity apart is our Thoracic Tumor Conference. This group is made up of nurse navigators, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, pulmonologists, pathologists, thoracic surgeons and radiologists to help provide a patient-specific treatment plan. With collaboration of all these specialties, we can provide patients with streamlined care to faster definitive treatment. We are dedicated to helping patients make informed decisions about their care and treatment options.
Thoracic Surgical Procedures
Thoracic surgeons operate on the chest cavity, which includes the chest wall, esophagus, mediastinum, pleura and lungs. We offer the most advanced procedures such as Endobronchial Ultrasound and Navigational bronchoscopy to help diagnose chest conditions. Video-assisted Thoracoscopic surgery(VATS) and Robotic-assisted Thoracoscopic surgery(RATS) allow the surgeon to perform procedures inside the chest cavity that before, would require a larger incision. These minimally-invasive techniques can be offered to provide less pain, a shorter hospital stay and a faster recovery. We provide many options for lung surgery including wedge resection, segmentectomy, lobectomy and pneumonectomy. These techniques can also be applied to the esophagus, chest wall resection, thymectomy and manage of pleural disease.
