Please Call Ahead Before Any Visit & Wear a Mask or Face Covering
To reduce community spread of COVID-19, we're asking all patients to please call ahead before visiting a clinic. If you have an appointment at a UnityPoint Health location, please wear a mask or face covering except for children under two years old, anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated or unable to remove the mask without assistance.
UnityPoint Health® – Trinity is elevating its current visitor limitations, effective immediately and until further notice, to further protect our patients and health care workers due to a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in our community.
We recognize there are times when having a visitor or family member present is crucial. In these cases, visitors will be allowed based on the exceptions listed below.
These exceptions apply to all UnityPoint Health – Trinity hospitals:
- Obstetric patients in labor may have one partner and one birth support person accompany them.
- Prenatal patients may have one partner or support person accompany them to appointments. Postpartum patients may have one partner or support person with them following delivery.
- Nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patients may have one birth parent plus one significant other who must remain in the room for the duration of the visit.
- Patients where the end-of-life is imminent may have two visitors. Two visitors may also be present during discussion of end-of-life care decisions.
- Patients who are discussing palliative care decisions may have one visitor.
- Patients who have cognitive impairments or developmental delays, where caregiver provides safety, may have one visitor.
- Minors under the age of 18 may have two parents or guardians accompany them in all care areas.
- Patients undergoing surgery or procedures may have one visitor stay in the surgical waiting area or ambulatory room until the procedure is finished. After speaking with the surgeon following the procedure, the visitor must leave the hospital as soon as possible.
- Patients who require mobility assistance may have one visitor accompany them to laboratory or radiology appointments.
- Patients who have an appointment at a hospital-based clinic, or are visiting the Emergency Room (ER), may have one person with them.
Visitors allowed, based on the exceptions above, must stay in the patient's room and wear a mask the entire time of their visit. Once the visitor leaves the patient room, they must leave the hospital. In all cases, a visitor will only be allowed if they do not have symptoms of respiratory infection (fever, runny nose, cough, shortness of breath). Additionally, children under the age of 18 will not be allowed except under extraordinary circumstances. Please note that visitors will not be allowed for patients with a pending or positive COVID-19 test.
We understand these changes may impose an inconvenience to families, but they are important steps to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible. Limiting visitors to our hospitalized patients will keep them safe while in our care. The community is encouraged to continue practicing social distancing, masking, and perform frequent hand hygiene to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Cancellations & Updates
In keeping with a commitment to patient, visitor and team member safety, UnityPoint Health – Trinity will postpone classes and events to help limit the potential spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and continued widespread seasonal influenza activity.

Changes in Business Operations or Hours
- UnityPoint Health – Trinity Outpatient Laboratory hours have changed. For details, please click here.
- As of July 20, UnityPoint Health – Trinity Retail Pharmacy drive-through is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
- Effective May 1, UnityPoint Health – Trinity gift shop stores and online shops will be closed until further notice.
