Updates, Closings & restrictions

Please Call Ahead Before Any Visit & Wear a Mask or Face Covering

To reduce community spread of COVID-19, we're asking all patients to please call ahead before visiting a clinic. If you have an appointment at a UnityPoint Health location, please wear a mask or face covering except for children under two years old, anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated or unable to remove the mask without assistance.

Visitor Restrictions

Effective June14, 2021

UnityPoint Health® – Trinity is modifying its current visitor limitations for non-COVID positive and COVID positive inpatients. Non-COVID positive patients are allowed two visitors at a time during visiting hours. The visitors do not need to be the same during the patient's entire stay except for obstetric patients. Visiting hours for non-COVID-19 patients in the ICU and in Med/Surg are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. COVID positive inpatients may have one visitor from 4 to 6 p.m. who must follow PPE guidelines set by the hospital.

For all patients, a visitor will only be allowed if they are symptom-free (do not have symptoms of respiratory infection including fever, runny nose, cough, shortness of breath), have not tested positive for COVID-19 recently, and have not been in close contact with a COVID-19 patient in the past 14 days.  For all inpatient visits, visitor must be 12 years of age or older.

These exceptions apply to all UnityPoint Health – Trinity hospitals:

  • Inpatient non-COVID-19 positive patients may have two visitors at a time during the hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A patient-requested clergy person is not counted as the patient's visitor. Visitors may leave the hospital and return during visitor hours, but they must remain in the patient's room during each visit. All visitors must enter the hospital through the main entrance for screening prior to their visit and must wear the visitor ID tag provided for the duration of their visit. Visitors must remain in the patient's room throughout the duration of the visit. We also ask that visitors remain masked while in the patient's room.
  • Inpatient COVID-19 positive patients may have one visitor from 4 to 6 p.m. Visitor must follow PPE and prevention guidelines.
  • For outpatient visits and testing, visitor may be under the age of 18.
    • The patient is responsible for supervising the minor visitor in these areas.
  • Patients of Trinity Cancer Center may have one visitor for the patient's initial office visit, as well as the return visit to discuss test results and treatment plans. No visitors are allowed in either of the infusion centers.
  • One visitor will be allowed with all patients visiting the Cancer Center and Infusion Center.
  • Patients undergoing cardiology procedures may have two visitors, and they must remain in the patient's room at all times.
  • Patients who have an appointment at a clinic located within the hospital or are visiting the Emergency Room (ER), may have one person with them.
  • In Outpatient Lab areas, one visitor is allowed in the waiting room, while the patient's labs are being drawn. If a patient has children with them, the children may accompany the patient to the lab draw. Patients under the age of 18 may have one parent or guardian accompany them.
  • Obstetric patients in labor may have one partner and one birth support person accompany them throughout their labor and delivery. Following delivery, postpartum patients may have two visitors per day. Visitors must be the same for the entire admission and must be over the age of 18. The second visitor must adhere to the hospital visiting hours.
  • Prenatal patients may have one partner or support person accompany them to appointments.
  • Nursery and Neonatal Special Care Unit (NSCU) patients may have one birth parent plus one significant other who must remain in the room for the duration of the visit.
  • For Outpatient Wound Care, one visitor may accompany patients, but must remain in the waiting room areas.
  • Patients where the end-of-life is imminent may have two visitors. Two visitors may also be present during discussion of end-of-life care decisions.
  • Patients who are discussing palliative care decisions may have two visitors.
  • Patients who have cognitive impairments or developmental delays, where caregiver provides safety, may have one visitor at any time.
  • Patients under the age of 18 may have two parents or guardians accompany them in all care areas.
  • Patients undergoing surgery or procedures may have one visitor stay in the surgical waiting area or ambulatory room until the procedure is finished. If a surgical patient is admitted to the hospital for post-surgical care, then two visitors are allowed during visitor hours and the visitors must stay in the patient's room for the duration of the visit.

As COVID-19 infection rates decrease, we look forward to reinstating visitor accessibility as it is safe. The community is encouraged to continue practicing social distancing, masking, and performing frequent hand hygiene to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Cancellations & Updates
