Please Wear a Mask or Face Covering Within Our Facilities

To reduce community spread of COVID-19, if you have an appointment at a UnityPoint Health location, please wear a mask or face covering except for children under two years old, anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated or unable to remove the mask without assistance.

Current Visitor Guidelines

UnityPoint Health – Trinity provides the following visitor guidelines for non-COVID positive and COVID positive patients. These guidelines adjust visitor access during the pandemic according to the needs of the care setting and the level of community spread.

Hospital Visitor Hours

Unless otherwise noted, visitor hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Trinity hospitals in Bettendorf, Moline, Muscatine and Rock Island.

All Visitors Must:

  • be symptom-free (no symptoms of respiratory infection including fever, runny nose, cough, shortness of breath),
  • have not recently tested positive for COVID-19. 
  • have not been in close contact with a COVID-19 patient in the past 14 days.
  • must be 12 years of age or older to visit patients in the hospital.

Non-COVID Positive Patients:

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Med/Surg visitor hours at Trinity hospitals in Bettendorf, Moline, Muscatine and Rock Island are daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Patients are allowed two visitors at a time during visiting hours. Visitors may leave the hospital and return during visiting hours. They must stay in the patient room during the visit and must wear a mask, even if already vaccinated.
  • Designated visitors must enter the hospital through the main entrance for screening prior to their visit and must wear the visitor ID tag provided for the duration of their visit.
  • Hospital waiting rooms, cafeterias, coffee shops and public spaces are closed to visitors and the public.
  • A patient-requested clergy person is not counted as a patient's visitor.

COVID Positive Patients:

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Med/Surg visitor hours at Trinity hospitals in Bettendorf, Moline, Muscatine and Rock Island are daily from 4 to 6 p.m.
  • Patients are allowed one visitor during visitor hours. The visitor must follow Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines set by the hospital and stay in the patient room for the duration of the visit.
  • Patients who refuse a COVID test are treated as COVID-Positive.

Care Setting Guidelines - Inpatient

All visitors must be over 12 and follow the guidelines above for visiting Non-COVID positive and COVID-positive patients. Visitors must have been screened at the hospital entrance, wear the visitor identification tag provided, stay in the patient's room during the visit and wear a mask, even if already vaccinated.

  • Cardiology: 2 visitors at a time; stay in patient's room; wear mask.
  • Emergency Department: 1 visitor. To enable proper social distancing in our waiting rooms, and for patient and visitor safety, during busy times, visitors may be asked to wait in their cars until the patient has been assigned a room in the Emergency Department. For patients under the age of 18, 1 adult visitor will be allowed to remain in the waiting room with the patient, a second visitor may wait in the car and the irchild once the patient is assigned a room.
  • End-of-Life Care: Up to 4 visitors in ICU or Med-Surg when end-of-life is imminent. Visitors must stay in patient's room. Up to 4 visitors during discussion of end-of-life decisions.
  • Nursery/Neonatal Special Care Unit: 1 birth parent plus 1 significant other.
  • Obstetrics: 1 partner and 1 birth support person during labor/delivery. Post-delivery, two designated visitors over 18 for entire stay. Second visitor must follow general hospital visitor guidelines.
  • Palliative Care Discussions: 2 visitors.
  • Patients with Cognitive Impairments or Developmental Delays: 1 visitor or caregiver for safety needs.
  • Patients Under 18: 2 parents allowed in all care areas.
  • Surgery: 1 visitor in surgical waiting area or ambulatory care room until procedure is concluded. 2 visitors in patient's room following surgery if patient is admitted to the hospital for post-surgical care. Follow general hospital visitor guidelines.

Care Setting Guidelines - Outpatient

For outpatient visits and testing, visitor may be under the age of 18. The patient is responsible for supervising the minor-age visitor in these areas. Visitors may be referred to below as "support person."

  • Cancer Center/Infusion Center: 1 visitor. Visitor must be screened and symptom-free.
  • Cancer Center – Initial Visit: 1 support person for initial and follow-up office visit to discuss treatment plan.
  • Cardiology: 2 visitors – for patient tests or procedure. Must stay in patient's room.
  • Imaging Services: 1 support person in waiting area while imaging is performed. Patient's children many not accompany patient to imaging. 1 parent or guardian for patients under 18.
  • Laboratory Testing/Blood Draws: 1 support person in waiting area while labs are drawn. Patient's children may accompany patient to lab draw area. 1 parent or guardian for patients under 18.
  • Pre-Natal Appointments: 1 partner or support person.
  • Wound Care: 1 support person. Must stay in waiting area.

As COVID-19 infection rates decrease, we look forward to reinstating visitor accessibility as it is safe. The community is encouraged to continue practicing social distancing, masking, and performing frequent hand hygiene to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

In keeping with a commitment to patient, visitor and team member safety, UnityPoint Health – Trinity will postpone in-person classes and events to help limit the potential spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and continued widespread seasonal influenza activity. Changes in Business Operations or Hours

  • As of Jan. 17, UnityPoint Health – Trinity Outpatient Laboratory in Rock Island temporarily closed. Temporary hours are in effect for the Bettendorf and Moline locations (Monday - Friday open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.) The Moline location is open Saturday 6 a.m. to Noon. The Outpatient Laboratory in Muscatine is temporarily closed on Saturdays. Please check additional lab locations and hours here
  • As of Oct. 26, UnityPoint Health – Trinity Retail Pharmacy drive-through and lobby are open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
  • UnityPoint Health Express - Bett Plex will be closed through Jan. 31. Please visit another walk-in location for your urgent health needs.
