At UnityPoint Health - Central Illinois, you'll find emergency care at Proctor, Pekin and Methodist Hospitals. When you arrive at one of our emergency departments, you will be assessed to determine the severity of your illness or injury. After your triage assessment, you'll be taken to a room in the emergency department to be seen by a provider.

Methodist Emergency Department

Located at Hamilton Boulevard and NE Crescent Avenue in Downtown Peoria. Easily accessible from I-74, Glen Oak Avenue or Main Street. (View map)

The Methodist Emergency Department - UnityPoint Health - Peoria

The Methodist Emergency Department provides complete emergency services for major emergencies and minor illness and injuries.

We are an Illinois State Designated Trauma Center, which means physicians, operating room staff members and laboratory services are always available to you. In the event of a heart attack, the experienced cardiovascular team is prepared to open blocked arteries fast. Methodist is also a Certified Stroke Center.

Methodist has added more express care rooms to handle minor emergencies to help patients get the care they need faster, and get home sooner.

The Illinois Department of Public Health recognizes Methodist as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics, which means we have the equipment and specially trained staff to care for children.

Methodist also has a dedicated behavioral health emergency treatment area designed to provide a non-threatening, soothing environment for individuals seeking assessment or treatment for behavioral health emergencies.

Proctor Emergency Department

The Emergency  Department at Proctor provides a full spectrum of care for  critically ill and injured patients in a  safe, clean, comfortable, and  convenient environment including  state-of-the-art technology within a state-of-the-art facility.

The Department includes an expanded Chest Pain Center, patient observation rooms, rooms especially designed for pediatric patients, trauma room and biohazard/decontamination room.  Easy access is provided from two of Peoria's main thoroughfares, North Knoxville Ave. and North Sheridan Rd. Accessing the campus and our Emergency Department is convenient however, in an emergency always remember to dial 911.

The emergency physician requires a breadth of knowledge and advanced procedural skills- the skills of many specialists. While every medical specialty is unique, the emergency department may present one of the most unpredictable environments in medicine. EPSS physicians are American Board of Emergency Medicine certified, or Board-eligible, and trained in emergency medicine.
