Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics Provider Certification Course (ALSO): Friday, July 19, 2019
An educational program designed to enhance cognitive and procedural skills of health care professionals to help them manage obstetrical emergencies. Sponsored by UnityPoint Health – Methodist Family Medicine Residency and University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria.
Overall Course Objectives
- Discuss methods of managing pregnancy and birth urgencies and emergencies, which standardize the skills of practicing maternity care providers.
- Demonstrate content and skill acquisition as evidenced by successful completion of online course examination, skills workstations and group testing stations.
Blended Classroom Format
This year's course will be presented in a new Blended Classroom format. There are two portions to the course; online and live. The online portion is to be completed by the learner prior to attending the live portion of the course on July 19th.
Once registration completion is confirmed by the Course Coordinator, registrants will be provided with an email link and access code for the Online Portion of the ALSO Provider Course through the AAFP. Online content consists of a pre-test, recorded lectures, online case studies. recorded workstation demonstrations, post-test and course evaluation. Upon completion of the post-test, evaluation and claiming credit, the letter of participation will be accessible electronically. This letter must be provided to the Course Coordinator as proof of successful online completion prior to participation in the Live Portion of the course. Any participant who has not completed the online portion of the course will not be allowed to participate in the live portion of the course and will not be eligible for completion of certification.
This Live activity, ALSO Provider Course, with a date range of 7/19/19-7/19/19, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 8.00 Prescribed credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
The American Academy of Family Physicians is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 9.60 contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, LPN, or LMHT re-licensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing Provider Number; LT0278-0312. This is an advanced level course and may not be suitable for all general continuing nursing education.
