The Meriter Team Did a Phenomenal Job

December 17, 2015

I am writing to thank you for the excellent care that I received – and continue to receive – from the Meriter team. I developed an infection after my C-section delivery (which was performed at another hospital) and was sent to the Meriter Emergency Department a few days after our son was born. The infection was rather serious and I spent a week at Meriter receiving IV antibiotics and twice-daily wound care. The Meriter team arranged for my newborn son to stay at the hospital with me, and adjusted my medications to allow me to continue breastfeeding. When I was well enough to move to outpatient treatment, they organized daily appointments at the Meriter infusion clinic, and I continue to receive excellent care there.

My sincere thanks to Dr. Carr for her expertise and dedication to my treatment throughout our stay and for taking the time to get to know our family even under difficult circumstances. Sue Rees put all of us at ease with her calm approach to what felt like an overwhelming situation, and she and Dr. Reich helped us understand what was going on and what our options were. We are so grateful to Deb P. in the Family Care Center who did a wonderful job of looking after all of us and was a great source of encouragement. And my thanks to the nurses in the infusion center who have so willingly taken on my wound care in addition to daily infusion treatment.

While no one wants to end up with a post-surgical infection, particularly when welcoming your first child, the Meriter team did a phenomenal job of turning a negative and scary situation into a positive one. Thank you!
