We are Forever Grateful to Meriter

July 7, 2016

Our story started with my daughter being born 10 weeks early. She spent 5 weeks in the NICU in 2013. We had the best NICU nurses in the world! They discharged my daughter Mother's Day 2013. We are forever grateful to Meriter's NICU for our daughter surviving. We thank the doctors, nurses and RT's, and also the therapy staff.

After she went home she wasn't making milestones as a baby should and was diagnosed with Periventricular Leukomalacia in her brain which gave her a Cerebral Palsy diagnosis at 4 months old. She can't walk, talk, eat, or care for herself. She is completely dependent on us for her cares. We are very pleased with Meriter's Pediatric Therapy team especially Katie, Piper, Amy, Monica, and Amanda. They have treated my daughter since she was in the NICU and now she is 3 years old and they do excellent work! We are thankful for this wonderful dedicated team.

I want to also share how Jolene Carviou, Case Manager for the Pediatric Therapy department has helped our family. She consistently goes above and beyond to help my daughter and we are so thankful! She helps coordinate equipment needs and respite care help. She had taken over and coordinated these things for me when I don't have time due to caring for my daughter with Cerebral Palsy. She has helped me keep my sanity as a special needs parent. We are so grateful and could never begin to express how thankful we are for her. I know when I need something Jolene will help and she does this fast. She is always pleasant and has a lovely personality. We are better as a family for the help she has given us. Thank you Jolene! Makayla wouldn't be where she is today without this wonderful team at Meriter! Thank you!!!!
