About This ProviderPrint
"It's important to remember rheumatic conditions are complex. These diseases often change and evolve over time. I will work closely with you to identify the problem and design an individualized treatment program. I practice with compassion, caring and respect."
Dr. Sharkey enjoys rheumatology because it allows her to help patients living with chronic conditions. She has special interests treating lupus, osteoporosis, vasculitis and interstitial lung disease. She also finds it rewarding to manage and lower her patients' risk factors for conditions such as heart disease, as those with rheumatological conditions are at a higher risk for coronary events.
Dr. Sharkey wants to work as a team with her patients to provide them with the best treatments available and give them the tools to manage their individual health issues. She creates an environment that is open and honest, and she listens to her patients' concerns to help them live with their chronic conditions.
Outside of work, Dr. Sharkey enjoys attending cooking classes, bike riding and cross country skiing. She is also a member of the Lupus Foundation and Arthritis Foundation in order to be an advocate for her patients.
